HEALTH CALCULATORS

We firmly believe that measuring your health values with one of our diagnostic tests is much more accurate and reliable than utilizing calculators and estimates but these can provide a general idea of some of your health and weight parameters.
BODY MASS INDEX CALCULATOR
Body Mass Index (BMI)
BMI is a useful measure of overweight and obesity. It is calculated from your height and weight. BMI is an estimate of body fat and a good gauge of your risk for diseases that can occur with more body fat. The higher your BMI, the higher your risk for certain diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, gallstones, breathing problems, and certain cancers.

Although BMI can be used for most men and women, it does have some limits:

It may overestimate body fat in athletes and others who have a muscular build.
It may underestimate body fat in older persons and others who have lost muscle.
Use the BMI Calculator or BMI Tables below  to estimate your body fat.

Lean Body Mass (LBM)
Lean body mass is what your body would weight if you didn't have any body fat; that means it counts all the organs, bones, muscles, blood and skin, and everything else which is not fat but has mass.

It is particularly important to know your lean body mass if you are trying to lose weight. By watching your LBM you can monitor how much muscle you are losing. If you are only losing the muscle, the effect of your diet may be very disappointing, as losing muscle very often results in unpleasant appearance. Knowing how to calculate your lean body mass also helps you decide how much fat you should lose and what your body fat percentage will be after that. It is much more accurate to consider your LBM than your body weight.

RMR Calculator - Resting Metabolic Rate
Omni
RMR is the abbreviation of resting metabolic rate. This parameter tells how many calories are required by your body to perform the most basic functions while resting. These essential functions are e.g.:
  • breathing
  • heart beating
  • circulating blood
  • basic brain functions
  • food digestion
  • sustaining the function of vital organs
RMR does not account for calories burned to support physical activity. Anything that we do through a day requires energy (calories) to be burned in addition to those used to support resting metabolic rate. This calculation serves as a estimate, to ensure accuracy we recommend testing your RMR via Indirect Calorimetry

Navy Body Fat Calculator
Omni
Naval Body Fat Calculator
One of the best methods of estimating the fat content of a person's body was developed by US Navy and it calculates body fat with good precision. This parameter is determined for all service members of the US Navy since they are required to meet certain percent body fat (%BF) standards as a condition of military service.
You'll only need a measuring tape. Then, start taking measurements:
  1. Height - make sure you stand up straight and barefoot.
  2. Neck - the circumference should be measured just underneath the larynx (Adam's apple).
  3. Waist - should be measured horizontally, around the narrowest part of the abdomen for women and at the at the navel level for men.
  4. Hips - should be measured at the widest part of the buttocks or hip.

You can input the values in both imperial and metric units. If you have already taken these measurements, you can also calculate your body shape, waist to hip ratio and waist to height ratio.

TDEE Calculator - Total Daily Energy Expenditure
Omni
Total daily energy expenditure is the energy burnt on average during an entire day. It reflects the average amount of energy spent during a typical day, but it is not the same each and every day. It is because our TDEE depends on many different factors, including:
  • Basal metabolism, which depends on many factors itself, including: age, sex, height, weight, fat free mass, fat mass. Depending on those factors, BMR represents 45 to 70 percent of TDEE.
  • Metabolic response of food, which is the energy needed to ingest and digest food. It is usually estimated to be 10% of total caloric intake.
  • Physical activity, which can vary every day. After BMR, this is the second-largest component of TDEE.
  • Physiological state: growth, pregnancy, lactation, etc.
